Mission Australia - Reconnect

What is the Program?

Reconnect is a program that provides confidential support to young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and also helps strengthen links with their families where possible.

How Does the Program Work?

Young people and families joining the program will be linked with a Reconnect Worker.

Through mediation, counseling and practical support, the worker can help individuals:

  • Work things out with their family
  • Stay in school
  • Link with other education options
  • Link with job networks and support services
  • Link up with Centrelink and other youth-based services
  • Find somewhere to stay

The program can also help parents, guardians and families:

  • Work things out with the young person
  • Find ways to talk things through
  • Stay connected at home, school and the community
  • The Program is voluntary, people are able to participate and exit anytime.
